Crystal-clear turquoise water a few steps away, covered seating in the shade, a stocked fridge, fresh towels, and your own dedicated Cabana Host — a private cabana is Disney's island day, elevated, and it's one of the hardest reservations on all of Disney Cruise Line to get. Castaway Cay: Three Cabana Locations to Suit Your Crew
Most families hear “cabana” and picture one beach — but Castaway Cay actually has three cabana neighborhoods, and matching the right one to your crew is half the magic:
- Sandcastles — the island's classic family cabanas (that's the new name for the originals), steps from the family beach and everything the kids came for. I've filmed every single Sandcastle cabana for my channel — Cabana 7's tour is on the shelf below.
- Serenity Bay — the adults-only beach has cabanas of its own, secluded behind a beach berm, with the beach itself shared with the adult section. Yes, it's exactly as peaceful as it sounds.
- Mickey & Minnie Cove — the newest cabana beach, where Concierge guests get first selection — complete with a private lunch dining area just for cabana guests.
The Cove is where I've gone deepest: I toured all 31 cabanas in one 26-minute video — including a timed walk from Cabana 1 to Cabana 31 so you know exactly what “far end of the beach” means with a toddler and a beach bag. What the tour taught me, cabana by cabana:
- Cabanas 7–14 get the best natural shade from the tree line — my first request for families with little ones.
- The O'Buoy Bar sits near cabanas 14–16, with a specialty drink menu and its own viewing area.
- Grand Cabanas 29, 30, and 31 are the showstoppers for big groups — Grand Cabana 29 is one of the most sought-after reservations on the entire cruise line.
- Cabanas 9 and 11 are accessible, and Serenity Bay's Cabana A at Lookout Cay has direct beach access with beach wheelchairs available — Disney genuinely built these beaches for everyone.
- Hangar Bar 98 Barbecue has a cabana-guest-only side, and snorkel gear is a complimentary perk — you don't rent it, it's yours for the day.
Lookout Cay: Two Cabana Locations, Each With Its Own Vibe
At Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point you have two choices, each with its own personality:
- Mabrika Cove — on the arrival side: bright, Bahamian, close to the action, with an all-day view of your Disney ship and a dedicated lunch location tucked right between Cabanas 10 and 11.
- Serenity Bay — the adult beach, where the pace drops to absolutely nothing in the best possible way.
And the cabana hosts at both set the standard for the fleet.

How You Actually Get One
Cabanas are booked as port adventures the moment your activity window opens — Concierge guests first, then Pearl, Platinum, Gold, Silver, first-timers. On most sailings they never make it past the first two groups. So if a cabana is the heart of your trip, we plan the whole booking around that window: often that means Concierge, always it means I'm the one online at the opening bell, and either way there's a plan for your island day that doesn't depend on luck.
My planning is always complimentary — you pay Disney's price, and I bring the shade map.

- How do I reserve a cabana at Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay?
- They're booked as Disney Cruise Line port adventures when your activity window opens — Concierge guests get first priority, then each Castaway Club tier, and on popular sailings they often sell out in that first window. Castaway Cay has three cabana locations (Sandcastles, Serenity Bay, and Mickey & Minnie Cove) and Lookout Cay has two (Mabrika Cove and Serenity Bay), so there are more options than most families realize. - Which cabana should I request?
- It depends on your crew — and I've toured them all, so I can be specific. A classic family beach day: Sandcastles at Castaway Cay. An adults-only escape: Serenity Bay, on either island. Sailing Concierge and want the newest beach: Mickey & Minnie Cove — ask for 7–14 for natural shade, 14–16 to be near the O'Buoy Bar, or Grand Cabanas 29–31 for a big group. Accessibility needs: Cabanas 9 and 11 at the Cove, or Serenity Bay's Cabana A at Lookout Cay with beach wheelchairs available.
- Which cabanas have the best beach?
- As always, it depends on what you're looking for. On Castaway Cay, Mickey & Minnie Cove is the newest and probably the finest beach — very similar to Serenity Bay, which is adults-only. The Sandcastles beach is lovely too, and it's the closest to the kids' and family activities. Over on Lookout Cay, the Mabrika cabanas have an amazing beach with an all-day view of your Disney ship, while the Serenity Bay side is a little farther out — but the sand on that adult beach is absolutely amazing.
- What's actually included with a private cabana?
